Meet the Speaker: Barney Dean
​BVSc PGDip (VCP) CertAVP PGCertVetEd DipECVS MRCVS
EBVS European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Barney graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013 before spending 18-months in 100% small animal practice. Knowing he wanted to become a specialist surgeon, he then completed two rotating internships and a three-year surgical residency, before passing the ECVS Board Examinations to become an EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery in 2021.
Barney still enjoys all aspects of managing advanced small animal orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery cases, but over recent years has tried to satisfy his passion for lifelong learning by taking on more teaching and training roles, and additionally has recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education. Barney has provided a wide range of surgical training nationally and internationally, including congress lectures, certificate training, and practical courses. He additionally launched his own surgical CPD company, Chiron Vet CPD, in early 2023 to help vets of all levels to develop their surgical skills in a safe and sustainable manner.
